Story of Rip Van Winkle

Ask students questions as: "How do you operate a TV for personal use? How do you use the special feature of a VCR and a remote control?What are tools that allow you to control what you watch on TV as well as when and how you watch it? How do they influence your understanding and appreciation of what you receive on TV?"

Ask for a volunteer to pretend s/he is Rip Van Winkle, an alien from outer space or a two-year-old and pantomime for others the use of things above for the first time, especially demonstrating use of controls for recording (counter, timer, speed indicator)r and playback (pause, fast forward, rewind) on a VCR and remote control

Write a list of ways in which TV technology is alike and different from other things in your home, school and work environments. Think of physical features, functions and impact on daily life
